The House of Representatives member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Prince Olaide Akinremi also known as Jagaban has written to commiserate with the Aliiwo family as well as the entirety of Ibadanland over the demise of His Imperial Majesty Oba Dr. Sen. Mohood Olalekan Balogun following public announcement on the evening of Thursday 14th March 2024.

In a release he personally signed, Hon. Olaide Akinremi stated;

“I received with rude shock and sadness, the news of the transition of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sen. Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland who reportedly joined his ancestors yesterday.

Kabiyesi was more than a monarch to me, he was a father with whom I enjoyed a seamless and productive relationship while he lasted on earth. Olubadan Olalekan Balogun was a King with a difference as I was always blessed from his versed and erudite well of knowledge.

It is quite saddening that he has now transited to join his forebears just few days after celebrating his 2nd year on the throne of his forefathers, but be as it may, we all have to accept the sovereignty of God Almighty over life and death.

Kabiyesi lived long and lived well, his was a life of many lasting impacts even before he ascended the throne as Olubadan of Ibadanland, and we must chose to celebrate all these impacts he made while he was alive.

I commiserate with his immediate family and the entire Aliiwo dynasty, I also condole with Ibadanland as a whole. It is my profound prayers that God grants the soul of Oba Olalekan Balogun eternal rest, amen.

Signed;
Rt. Hon. Prince Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban).
MHR, Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
