Two Politicians Who Worked For Makinde In 2019 But May Work Against Him In 2023

Politics is definitely a game of number. The higher the number of citizens who subscribe to the political idea of a party or politician, the better the chances of the party or politician to emerge victorious at the poll.

However, the 2023 governorship election in Oyo State may seem, somehow, difficult for Governor Seyi Makinde to get reelected as the Executive Governor of the state.

This could be traceable to the possibility two prominent politicians who worked the emergence of Seyi Makinde as the Executive Governor of Oyo State in 2019 but may probably work against his reelection in 2023.

First, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan is a grassroot politician who worked assiduously toward the success and emergence of Seyi Makinde as the Executive Governor of Oyo State in 2019.

Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan

Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, indisputably, hold strong fraction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

The political wrangling between Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has degenerated into mega crisis that is currently affecting the party throughout Oyo State.

Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan had early disclosed his displeasure with the way Governor Seyi Makinde has been ignoring his caucus of the party. He insisted that, despite the fact that he worked assiduously for the election of Seyi Makinde, he had not given any appointment or recognition to any of his loyalists.

Unfortunately, the political rift between Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, had factionalised the party in the state.

Definitely, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan is not going to work for the second term reelection bid of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Secondly, the political influence of former Oyo State Governor Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja can not be overestimated. He is a grassroot politician, selfless leader and influential political strategist.

In the politics of Oyo State, Rasheed Ladoja is an household name with an encouraging political popularity.

In 2019, Rasheed Ladoja endorsed candidature of Seyi Makinde by devolving his political party, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) into the Peoples Democratic Party.

Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja worked, vehemently, toward the success and emergence of Seyi Makinde as the Executive Governor of Oyo State in 2019.

Unfortunately, since Governor Seyi Makinde was inaugurated, Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja insists that the Governor has not accorded him and his supporters the honors they deserve from the Governor.

The faulty relationship between Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, must have instrumented the recent consultation made by some leaders of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) to Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja.

With all indications, Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja may probably work against the second term reelection bid of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in 2023.
