VIDEO: Gunshots Heard As Protest Rocks Ibadan Over Naira Scarcity

Protesters have taken over the streets of Ibadan in Oyo state over the scarcity of the new naira and the ban of the old N500 and N1000 notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to reports, the protest began in Iwo Road where gun shots were heard and have now escalated to other areas of Ibadan.

In a video shared on Twitter by @Ibadantwitta_, people are seen running for dear lives at the sound of gunshots as traffic held vehicular movement in parts of the state.

This is coming at the wake of a brewing nationwide protest that began in the early hours of Friday morning over the president, Major General Mohammadu Buhari’s Thursday morning’s broadcast where he stated that only the old N200 remained a legal tender till April 10.

So far, protests against the rule has erupted in Lagos, Ogun, Rivers states.
