Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, explained why open campaign jamboree is yet to be flagged off in the state.

He noted that there is a need to address and resolve some internal issues causing disaffection within the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in different zones of the state before the main campaign begins fully.

He made this known while addressing party faithfuls during a town hall meeting held at Atiba Town hall, Oyo.

Makinde said: “Why we have not flagged off open campaign is because we decided to arrange our house internally by settling some rancours before we go outside. We want to settle some differences and ensure we are on the same page with ourselves including those who aggrieved. And I am actually happy that all the tendencies in Oyo have been resolved.

Reeling out the achievements of his administration within Oyo zone including renovation of Akesan Market, reconstruction of Gedu -Oroki- Sabo road, Primary Health Care Center, Light up Oyo Project, among others, Governor Makinde noted that 80 per cent of his campaign promises have been actualized.

While expressing confidence that the PDP would win convincingly in Oyo State come 2023 general election, the governor charged members of the party in Oyo state to work together and give maximum supports to the party’s candidates to emerge victorious in their elections.

He, however, pledged that there would be upgrade of good governance in the state under the mantra “Omitutun 2.O”, if given opportunity to serve again.

The governor earlier paid homage to the Oyomesi at the palace of Bashorun of Oyo, Chief Akinade Ayoola.

The event was attended by the party big wigs across the federal constituency and state at large.
