In a resolute move to combat criminal activities within its jurisdiction, the Oyo State government has suspended the Onido of Ido land, Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola (Gbadewolu I). Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, highlighted that the stern action is a clear message to those involved in aiding and abetting criminals within the state.

The Commissioner disclosed that the Onido’s suspension stems from credible intelligence linking him to illegal mining activities in the Ido local government area.

In addressing the persistent efforts to rid the state of criminal elements, Prince Dotun Oyelade emphasized that the government is determined to send a strong signal to individuals engaging in illicit activities, warning them to leave the region or face justice.

When questioned about the potential dethronement of the Onido once the investigation is conclusive, Commissioner Oyelade asserted that “all options are on the table.” This indicates the gravity of the situation and the government’s commitment to upholding the law, irrespective of the individual’s status or position.
