An Oyo State High Court in Ogbomoso has reserved judgment till October 25 in a lawsuit challenging the selection of Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosho. The suit, marked HOG/27/2022, alleges irregularities in the selection process that led to Ghandi’s emergence.

The plaintiff, Prince Kabir Olaoye, is seeking a court order to nullify Ghandi’s appointment and order a fresh selection process. Ghandi was installed as the new Soun of Ogbomosho on September 8, 2023, following the death of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi on December 12, 2021.

Justice A.K. Adedokun has scheduled October 25 for judgment in the case against Oba Ghandi, following the final arguments presented by the legal teams.

The defendants in the case include the Governor of Oyo State, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ogbomoso North Local Government, and several chiefs from Ogbomosoland.
